Welcome to our lively, friendly golf club. There are many good reasons to join Hawarden Golf Club. Here’s just a dozen of them.

Reason #1 A Great Course

Established in 1911 by Charlies Bolton Toller on the rolling hills and amongst the mature trees around the course, you could almost be in a quiet country estate yet we are right in the heart of Hawarden Village.

The 5900 yard course is both challenging and fair with no shot the same as one previously played. Driver is not necessarily the right club to begin with on the Par 4’s and Par 5’s. Good course management skills are definitely a requirement to shoot a good score around here.

#2 A Warm Welcome

Whether social or golf-playing members, members’ guests or visitors you are assured a warm welcome at Hawarden Golf Club on a regular day in the Club House and in the Professional Shop. There are also many social events throughout the year to attend, from monthly quizzes to the Annual Dinner Dance. These are always great nights with a fantastic atmosphere. These are also a good way to meet new people.

#3 Get On Course

We are especially pleased to welcome new golfing members with a short induction to help them get the best from their membership.

We’ll take you through all you need to do to get out onto the course by taking you through the website members’ area, making bookings, getting your handicap, entering competitions, meeting up with other members to play with and so on. We’ll even cover some of the rules and explain the different teams, playing formats and many opportunities for social golf and socialising that are available.

#4 Regular Competitions

Every Saturday we offer a Club Competition at Hawarden Golf Club, with tee times available to book from 7:00am until 2:00pm. A ‘Midweek Stableford’ also takes place every other Thursday through Spring and Summer. These are great way to meet new people, play for prizes and to try and get your handicap down.

We host Open competitions to encourage visiting players from other clubs. The format may be for individuals, or in pairs or teams of 3 or 4 players. It may be stableford for gents or ladies only, either or mixed. Really we have something for everyone whether junior, senior or in between.

#5 Home and Away

Our various Scratch, Seniors, Handicap League and Ladies teams play in local North Wales and Wirral leagues and national tournaments. Team members get the opportunity to play what is normally match play competitions, in home and away fixtures against players from other clubs.

In addition, we play friendly fixtures and also have in place a reciprocal arrangement with other Flintshire clubs to play at their courses for reduced rates throughout the year

#6 Our Professional Shop

As well as a well stocked shop, our PGA Professional, Alex Rowland, and his assistant will ensure you never pay over the odds for your golf equipment. A price match scheme is in operation to ensure you find the best deal for your new clubs, trolley, shoes, golf balls and accessories.

#7 Learning & Improving

Our PGA professional is on hand to help you find your swing and improve your play. We have created two bespoke teaching and practice areas as well as a practice putting green for members’ use. Members can enjoy lessons at discounted prices.

#8 Stunning Views & Great Facilities

Our recently renovated Clubhouse provides an exceptionally photogenic and comfortable venue with stunning views for a relaxing drink, snack or dinner – whether or not you play golf. With meeting areas and a fantastic dining and lounge area available for members’ use, it really is an ideal place to host a wedding reception or other catered social occasions. Members can hire the lounge area with dance floor, bar, and the meeting room at very reasonable rates.

#9 Family Members

With every full membership at HGC, you are entitled to a free junior membership for a family member under the age of 18.

We have a growing junior section and are actively promoting golf and the Club through our successful and award winning Junior Club Golf Scheme. This introduces children to the sport and teaches them the basics of the game in a supportive, supervised environment with trained coaches and the opportunity to join the club for a very competitive rate.

#10 Visitors

Members are entitled to sign in guests to the Clubhouse and onto the course for members’ guests rates. Playing members are also entitled to a free playing guest per year.

#11 Community – Join the Club

When you join us you’re not just joining a golf course. We take the idea of being a club seriously – in a fun way! We regularly communicate news and views via our social media, on our website, or by email.

Of course, this is all with a view to building connections, face to face. So as well as regular social events and competitions, there are many opportunities for members to get actively involved in the upkeep and running of the course and clubhouse and to join together to raise money for worthwhile charities. As volunteers we support a dedicated staff in building the membership and keeping in touch with our long-standing and new members, with a view to providing a great experience for all who come to the Club.

#12 Value For Money

If you need any more reasons to join then please look at our current membership packages. Membership packages are available to suit every pocket and cater for everyone from those with time on their hands during mid-week to those with more limited time to spare.
